UrbanPreacher
Urban Preacher was looking for a retro, but clean feel to their site. They also required an easy means to manage tour / show dates, a blog, videos and slideshow. I solved those with Wordpress and the events manager plugin. Read More
I designed a Wordpress theme for them to match the rest of their site. The slideshow on the homepage is a simple jquery slideshow, pulling any pictures they upload and mark accordingly.
The site is integrated with PayPal so they can easily accept payments. Each album also has a number of options for fans to share Urban Preacher with their friends. The site has the links to each of their various social media profiles- Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and MySpace

EcoAvenues
Created for a friend's project on strategies for intensification and densification: a comparison of Toronto's avenues and Vancouver's EcoDensity Charter. They needed a stylish presentation of their information, as well as a forum on which people could discuss their results.

RedHeadProductions
This is the result of a complete redesign for the client. We started from scratch with the goals of embeded video and Search Engine Optimization. For easy maintainability and scalability, the video play with menu is in a custom cfm tag that accepts an optional video to auto play. Read More
For the video we compressed the video in house to maximize quality and minimize file size. We compressed to mp4 to maintain high quality video, and then altered the files to allow them to still progressively download.
For SEO, we acquired a number of new keyword rich domain names, as well we ensured clean, semantic, easily crawlable markup. In particular, the video menu is simply an unordered list of linked images for maximum crawlability to ensure search engines had no trouble finding all the video pages.
We also submitted the site to a number of business directories. We installed Wordpress and customized an existing theme to match the site.

A simple site to show the client's poetry and allow feedback and contact. The only challenge being that exact formatting of each poem must be maintained, and all the poetry was in cyrillic.

CounterpointChorale
The task for this project was to modernize the design. I was tasked with completely overhauling the code, to bring the site up to speed with today's standards. In modernizing the site, we expanded the site to take advantage of more modern, larger browsers. Read More
For the menu we used Adobe Spry. Which allows for simple cross browser show and hide menu effects. While also allowing quick SEO friendly markup for the menu.
The Performance ads on the right were a little harder. We wanted large advertisments that looked like images and resembled the same style of the ads from the old site. While also being very search engine friendly and fast loading. I accomplished this by laying out the markup within each box and then adding a transparent clickable image on top. The result: ads that can be clicked anywhere like an image, with as much html text as possible for the search engines.

KootaOoma
With Koota Ooma I implemented what's called a 'perma link' system. Which is to say we made the urls more human readable. This accomplished 2 things. Read More
Firstly if you know the name of the book you want, it's a simple matter of going to www.kootaooma.com/my_book_name. More importantly the effect of permalinks on Koota Ooma's search engine rankings was incredible. Now Koota Ooma is listed in the top 5 for most books in their stock. The effect of this increased their sales considerably!
I also added a system for listing out all books in their inventory for Google to collect easily whenever their spiders crawl the site. This ensured that every book they have is listed on Google.
We also did all the product photography for Koota Ooma. One of my jobs was all post production of the images. With the help of Photoshop actions and a memorization of shortcut keys, I was able to streamline the process to a degree of very high efficiency.
I was also responsible for developing all but the shopping cart flash components.

RomanHurko
For Roman Hurko we were tasked with designing a full ecommerce suite. For his menu I created a custom Actionsript component. Completely and easily styleable. Over the years, adding or changing menu items has been easy and quick. Read More
The site also called for an mp3 player for previewing his music. It also had to interact with the rest of the site so customers could easily preview tracks before purchase. We did this with a flash player. The player can receive commands from links on the site for playing tracks that are previewable. Furthermore the player uses ID3 tags to show the information about each track. That means, that come time to add new tracks, it's a simple matter of putting the files in a folder on the site and the rest is taken care of for you!
For his payment gateway, we integrated Roman Hurko's site with Paypal. I also created a little tool, that, come tax season outputs a nice spreadsheet of the year's earnings.

SEVBIA
We made SEVBIA for the Sheppard East Business Improvement area. The idea being that it would be a free and easy place for businesses in the area to advertise. To accomplish this goal we payed extra special attention to the search engine optimization and marketing. To help potential customers find businesses easier, I integrated Google Maps. Read More
The site would also be publishing stories for public consumption as well as stories for business owners only. To accomplish this I used Wordpress for the back end and story submission. I then put together a small reusable framework for coldfusion to easily pull the stories and display them in the site.
For Search Engine Marketing and Optimization I implemented a perma-link strategy for individual business pages as well as setting up the site so that any time a new business was added or an existing business changed, Google would be notified.
I also built a custom full featured content management system for the BIA administration to track and manage member businesses. Because there would be more than one person with access to this system, I also created a logging system to track Administrator actions, so multiple administrators would not be getting in each other's way.

TarasDemerson
Taras Demerson needed a sleek and modern site for his photo portfolio. This is what we gave him. The portfolio is flash, but the rest is html. There is also a management system behind the scenes for him to create and track clients, so he can give certain clients permission for certain photo galleries. Read More
Also to make it easy for him to add new photos to his galleries I created a system where he just needs to drag photos into a folder and the site will do the rest. He also needed an elegant but unique home page. What we came up with was a randomly changing page, the site picks one of a number of pre selected pictures to display on the home page each time it's loaded. It rearranges its self depending on the orientation of the image.

TaffiRosen
Taffi Rosen was also looking for a very simple and elegant way of displaying her photography. On this particular job I was responsible for almost everything. This is what I came up with. Her gallery slide shows are done in Slide Show Pro. Read More
As with Taras Demerson, adding new photos is as simple as dragging them into a folder.

MusicaLeopolis
As with Roman Hurko, Musica Leopolis was looking for an interactive player to showcase their music. More recently, they required a user friendly way for anyone to download the music sheets and Sybelius files for any or all parts of any song on any one of their albums. Read More
The new interface had to extend the existing look and feel of the site seamlessly as well as be easy and quick to use. This was accomplished by providing several levels of download options, ranging from the option to download all scores in pdf, sib or both for a single album, lyricist or artist to only a single file for a single song for a single part.

DucatiThunder
The unique challenge presented with Ducati Thunder was creating a 'funky' design, while maintaining a feel of the Ducati.com site. We achieved this with an organic feel for most of the interface, but keeping the Ducati.com content organization. Read More
I was responsible for the overall development as well as the flash components. They had to look like extensions of the branches. The tracks on the right posed the biggest challenge for that. I also built the track component to be easily scalable, which came in handy when a new track was added to the Canadian Thunder series in 2007.
